Barnes & Jones cage unit 4294 is used on Monash 30 1/2" traps. This cage unit requires a new cover on the initial conversion to a cage unit.
Barnes & Jones cage units are a heavy duty thermostatic element and seating unit surrounded by a protective stainless steel "cage". Precisely calibarated to ensure solid opening and closing. Cage units replace the existing thermostat & seat within your current trap. Cage units are held in place by a cage protrusion at the bottom of the cage unit that will protrude into the orifice of your trap, and a high tension spring at the top of cage unit will have pressure applied by the cover to eliminate any movment. When the thermostatic element senses steam it expands causing the ball type plunger on the bottom of the element to close against it's internal seat, thus keeping the steam contained until the steam cools to a liquid state. The element then senses the cooler liquid condensate and contracts which raises the plunger from the seat and allows the condensate to drain.
