Hoffman inverted bucket traps are a simple leverage system that uses the weight of the bucket to open the valve against pressure. The inverted bucket has only two moving parts which means no complicated linkages to bind or clog. The inverted bucket trap is rated excellent on the following: resistance to wear, corrosion, and hydronic shock. Operation against back pressure, ability to purge air, and handle dirt, and performance under light loads. The Hoffman float and thermostatic trap is better suited to vent air at low pressures.
