Overview
The Armstrong inverted bucket steam trap, model 816, features a 2-1/2" pipe connection in an in-line horizontal configuration and an integral strainer. This configuration allows steam to enter from the bottom of the trap, and the condensate to discharge from the top of the trap. Inverted bucket traps are a simple leverage system that uses the weight of the bucket to open the valve against pressure. Inverted bucket traps have a high resistance to wear, corrosion, and hydronic shock. The 816 is cast iron and has a 30 psi maximum operating pressure. This trap has a capacity for 20,000 pounds per hour. The traps are designed for service on heat exchange equipment where there is a need to vent air and non-condensable gases quickly. They are a good choice for their ability to purge air, handle dirt, performance under light loads and operate against back pressure. The 800 Series traps come standard with a heavy-duty stainless steel bucket and have the option of being furnished with a thermic vent bucket, for high capacity air discharge.
