Steam Pipe Insulation Energy Savings Case Study

Insulation is arguably the most important component to achieving energy efficiency in steam systems. Uninsulated steam distribution and condensate return lines are a constant source of wasted energy. In this case study we calculate the energy savings realized at a plant in which 1,120 feet of one-inch diameter piping, 175 feet of two-inch piping, and 250 feet of four-inch piping was insulated. Spoiler alert: this company saved over $40,000 in the first year alone.
